The Larkspur Energy Facility is a 98-megawatt (MW), natural gas, simple-cycle electric peaking generating station. Located in Otay Mesa near San Diego, Larkspur was the first facility to be licensed under the California Energy Commission’s emergency siting process instituted to expedite electricity plants that could be online by September 30, 2001. Larkspur was sited, licensed and constructed within just six months to answer California’s urgent need for electricity during peak periods.

Larkspur utilizes fast-start peaking technologies that enable it to monitor system load, allowing the facility to react instantly to mitigate congestion or fulfill sudden demands on the grid. Larkspur plays an important role in meeting intermittent market demands and in emergency situations such as when fires occurred in San Diego.

DGC Management, LLC is the Asset Manager providing asset management services; and DGC Operations, LLC serves as the Operator providing O&M services for Indigo. The facility is powered by two General Electric (GE) LM6000 PC Sprint combustion turbines generators, which employ Best Available Control Technology to limit emissions and noise.
